LITTLE BABY GARRAHAN: November 2014

Blaire - 8 Months Old

This month your height is 26 inches and your weight is 17 lbs

Your sleeping patterns are... You're doing pretty good in the sleep department! On a good night, we will lay you down around 6:30/7pm and you will sleep until 7am. Sometimes you wake up once in the middle of the night but I believe it's because you've had a runny nose or cough for only about the last MONTH! Poor thing. It really is true - they will be building up their immune systems the entire first year at day care. We wouldn't have it any other way but you feel terrible when you hear the little pathetic cough over the monitor at 1am. Hubby can't help but run in there to pick her up and hold her upright to hopefully help with the cough or runny nose. We have had her mattress propped at an angle for the last month or two using a big pillow under the actual mattress. Not sure if it helps but we thought we'd try it out for awhile to hopefully help with any drainage.

Otherwise, your naps are great when you're home with us on the weekend (2x 1.5/2 hour naps), but during the week they're not as great. Hence the 6:30pm bedtime. Add in a time change on top of it all and it's hard not to let her fall asleep at 5:45pm when she's rubbing her eyes and sucking her thumb! If only she would nap better during the week...but our little social butterfly is just too excited and wants to be awake playing with her friends. ;)

Your feeding schedule is... You have 3 solid meals a day and 4 8oz bottles a day... but are beginning to not really want those last two bottles. She loves her breast milk bottles but wants nothing to do with her formula bottles. So soon it will probably look like 3 solids and 3 bottles. You've tried most fruits and veggies under the sun but due to some digestion issues, we're cutting back on everything except prunes, peaches and veggies for the time being. We will introduce some protein in the next week or two, because apparently you're READY for more! (Holy moly I wish there was a guidebook for this stuff!) You love, love to eat and we love that you're such a growing girl!

Some sounds and motions you make are... the girl laughs nonstop! Forget talking - she'll just laugh. She finds mama and dada very funny and we love bath and bedtime now where it's constant laughter. You are also quite the Yoga baby; you sometimes sleep holding one or both feet and it's quite funny. Add that to your good posture when you sit up and the girls at Primrose say you're destined to be a Yoga Teacher!

Your likes and dislikes are... Bath time is the best. Horsing around with Dad is your favorite. Biting mama's nose and laughing hysterically is also one of your favorites. We are lucky this girl has mainly likes and few dislikes! However...being cold after bath time is still probably the worst of it. Oh - and long car rides. Driving back from Austin not during a nap hour was not a fun time for anyone...but we just learned that this means for right now either not to take long car rides OR take them over a nap time!

Your favorite toys and games are... Your favorite things at home seem to be anything you can teethe on. You love, love, love "where's Blaire?!", where we cover your face with a scarf, towel, etc., and kick your little feet the entire time. The game could last forever if we let it! Also, this isn't quite a game (but hey, maybe she thinks it is!), but you love to peer over our shoulder and check out what's going on behind or next to us. It cracks us up! Our little detective...

By the end of the month you are learning to... You have learned a lot this month and are so close to crawling. You push off our hands and spin around on the floor...we are in trouble soon! ;) You have two teeth now and HAIR! Enough that it actually blows in the wind!

8 months is wonderful. This girl gets more lovable every single day. :)
